Management of Intellectual Property This module is designed to give an understanding of the basic principles of intellectual property (IP) law. The course material offers a comprehensive overview of all areas of IP law, including copyright, patents, trademarks, geographical indications, industrial designs and competition law. The economic importance of IP and its impact on an organization's ability to innovate is explored. Attendant will learn the basic skills necessary for the creation of intellectual wealth by means of the acquisition, valuation and licensing of IP. This module will address IP and new technologies, such as software protection, biotechnology and the impact of communication technologies. The course will provide managers with the followings: Skills necessary to recognize and protect the intellectual property within their firms Good understanding of the tools necessary to evaluate the potential of IP and to capitalize on that potential.
